A method of separating an egg shell and membranes attached to it, comprising: supplying an untreated egg shell containing a shell and membranes attached to it into an air stream created by an air flow generator in communication with a venturi and affecting one or more untreated eggshells shock waves for chopping eggshells. 2. The method according to claim 1, wherein the inlet pipe is in communication with a venturi. The method according to claim 2, wherein the input device is connected to the input pipe so that the longitudinal axis of the input device is substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the input pipe, and an untreated egg shell is fed through the input device. The method of claim 1, wherein the air flow generator is connected to an expanding portion of the venturi. The method according to claim 1, further comprising supplying the crushed eggshell to a separation device adapted to collect membranes separately from the eggshell. The method according to claim 5, wherein about 80% of the membranes initially supplied to the air stream are collected by a separation device. The method of claim 5, further comprising re-feeding the crushed eggshell into the air stream. The method according to claim 1, wherein the air flow has a first speed of about 100 mph, and a second speed of about 1 Mach.
