FIELD: medicine.SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to radiation therapy, and may be used for the non-invasive detection of tissue oxygen status of the tumour and surrounding healthy tissues. For this purpose, the above tissues are exposed to a radiomodifying agent. An optical diffusion spectroscopy method is used to scan the analysed tissues before and also several times after the exposure to the radiomodifying agent. That is followed by calculating the concentrations of oxidised, reduced and total hemoglobin and the oxygen status of the analysed tissues. Then the flow charts for the oxidised, reduced and total haemoglobin concentrations, the oxygen status of the analysed tissues. A time interval with maximum oxygen status variation and surrounding normal tissues is calculated by the flow chart for the oxygen status of the tumour tissue and the surrounding normal tissues, in case of an increase of the oxygen status of the tumour tissue. The given interval is to be considered as an optimum for the highest damaging action of ionising radiation on the tumour tissues, and the safe one for the surrounding normal tissues.
