An obturator for covering a defect of the hard palate and soft palate, wherein the obturator comprises a hard palate-replacing rigid plate for covering the defect of the hard palate, is characterized by an inflatable, in particular semi-inflated soft member with a flexible outer shell arranged adjacent to the rigid plate and having a soft palate-replacing portion extending beyond a palate bone-replacing end of the rigid plate. The inventive palate implant is made of a biocompatible collagen pad or membrane for covering a defect of the soft palate, wherein the pad or membrane at least in a boundary area thereof has a reinforcement structure of a biocompatible filament.
