Provided is a method for manufacturing a porous compact that is made of a hydrophilic material, and has densely and regularly arrayed voids. The compact is manufactured from a molding material (20), constituted by an emulsion comprising a continuous phase (22) and a dispersed phase (21), via a building step, a curing step, a stripping step, and a dispersed phase removing step. The continuous phase of the molding material (20) is an aqueous phase containing a curable compound. In the building step, the molding material (20) is introduced into a container (41). In the curing step, the curable compound is cured after the building step to obtain a cured product. In the stripping step, the container (41) and the cured product are separated after the curing step.
