The present invention relates to the use of ferroquine, the N-demethylated metabolite or any of the pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof for treating and/or preventing infections caused by a parasite belonging to the Plasmodium genus, the life cycle of which includes a phase of hepatic latency in the human host.La presente invención trata de la utilización de la ferroquina, de su metabolito N-desmetilado, o de una de sus sales farmacéuticamente aceptables, en el tratamiento y/o la prevención de infecciones causadas por un parásito del género Plasmodium, cuyo ciclo de vida comprende una fase de latencia hepática en el hospedante humano.
