An embodiment of the invention comprises: gripper wraps made of stretchable material the gripper wraps having exposed rubber strands on one outer surface of the gripper wraps the exposed rubber strands arranged in an offset lattice configuration, wherein the exposed rubber strands have a coefficient of friction sufficient to grip the previous layer of wrap.
