Disclosed are a novel compound isolated from an Aruncus americanus extract, and an anti-inflammatory composition using the same. The novel compound inhibits production of NO, PGE_2, and inflammatory cytokines (TNF-α and IL-6) and suppresses production of iNOS and COX-2 in macrophages stimulated by lipopolysaccharide (LPS). In addition, the compound also inhibits activation of IκB, p38 (p38 MAPK), extracellular signal-regulated kinases 1/2 (ERK1/2), and c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK).본 발명은 LPS(lipopolysaccharide)로 자극된 대식세포에서 NO, PGE2, 염증성 사이토카인(TNF-α 및 IL-6)의 생성 억제하고 iNOS 및 COX-2의 생성을 억제할 뿐만 아니라, NF-κB의 활성화를 유도하는 IκB, p38(p38 MAPK), ERK1/2(extracellular signal-regulated kinases 1/2) 및 JNK(c-Jun N-terminal kinase)의 활성화를 억제하는, 눈개승마 추출물에서 분리된 신규 화합물 및 이를 이용한 항염증 조성물을 개시한다.
