An apparatus for analyzing the quality of gas in a process stream 12 at a subsea location comprises a container 20; one or more devices (40, fig 2) for analysing gas quality, being located in the container; a means for supplying a sample of gas from the process stream to the one or more devices; and wherein the pressure within the container is maintained at or near to atmospheric pressure. The one or more devices may be a gas chromatograph and a means of supplying a carrier gas and/or calibration gas to the gas chromatograph may be an umbilical. A means for discharging the gas from the container, includes a reservoir (50) for analysed gas may also be supplied. The temperature within the container may be controlled. The invention also extends to a method of analyzing the quality of gas in a process stream at a subsea location.
