The present invention includes apoptotic compositions and methods for inducing apoptosis of cancer cells independent of NK cells. The apoptotic composition comprises a coordinated combination of antibodies that specifically bind to human DR5 or a coordinated combination of anti-DR5 antibody and TRAIL. Administration of a therapeutically effective amount of the apoptotic composition induces apoptosis of apoptosis-sensitive cancer cells.
