A dual pin surface anchoring unit or a surface anchoring system incorporating at least one dual pin anchoring unit configured to be rapidly deployed and recovered for anchoring equipment in strong winds, or other natural events that may damage that equipment. Many current anchoring systems are fixed in position or take a long time to deploy and as such cannot be deployed rapidly enough to prevent damage to equipment. The Dual Pin (DP) surface anchoring unit includes two pin guides and at least one surface attachment assembly attached to a primary section, such that: - the primary section is in the form of a &lsquoY&rsquo or &lsquoT&rsquo - the primary section includes a core section and a cross-bar section - each pin guide is attached to the cross-bar section adjacent or coterminous with an alpha terminal end of the primary section - the, or at least one, surface attachment assembly is attached close to or at a beta terminal end of the primary section - the beta terminal end is coterminous with a terminal end of the associated DP surface anchoring unit - the alpha terminal end and beta terminal end are opposite distal terminal ends of the primary section - the surface attachment assembly is dimensioned and configured to releasably attach to at least one strap assembly, and - each pin guide is configured to accept a complementary retention pin. Where when deployed as a system each strap assembly is configured to releasably connect the item to a complementary surface attachment assembly, and each retention pin is an elongate member configured to releasably anchor the associated surface anchoring unit.
