PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fall detection apparatus capable of inexpensively and accurately detecting human fall.SOLUTION: The fall detection apparatus includes: a thermopile unit 100 having a plurality of thermopiles for detecting temperatures of a plurality of detection areas overlapped to adjacent detection areas a change area detection part 207 for detecting a change area to be a detection area in which a difference not less than a first threshold is detected a centroid position calculation part 211 for calculating a centroid position of the change area on the basis of a position and a temperature of each change area a centroid difference calculation part 213 for calculating a centroid difference between a height-direction component of a centroid position calculated based on temperature information on first detection time and a height-direction component of a centroid position calculated based on temperature information on second detection time a fall determination part 214 which, when the centroid difference is larger than a second threshold, determines detection of human fall at the second detection time and a fall output part 216 for outputting purport of fall detection.
