PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a gene participating in the formation of dimethyl allyl pyrophosphate (DMAPP) in hop and apply the gene for the more objective and predictable breeding of hop based on a genetic engineering technique. SOLUTION: The invention provides an LytB gene derived from the cone of a female hop plant, a recombinant vector containing the gene, a transformant containing the recombinant vector, a protein encoded by the gene, a nucleic acid primer containing a part of the gene, and a nucleic acid probe containing a part of the gene.
