PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide lipid formulated compositions and methods for inhibiting expression of Eg5 and VEGF genes.SOLUTION: The invention relates to a composition comprising double-stranded ribonucleic acid (dsRNA) in a lipid formulation, a method for inhibiting expression of human kinesin family member 11 (Eg5) and Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF), and a method for treating a pathological process mediated by the expression Eg5 and VEGF, such as cancer. In yet another embodiment, the invention provides a method for reducing tumor growth in a mammal in need of treatment for cancer. The method includes administering the composition of the invention to the mammal, which method reduces tumor growth by at least 20%.
