Disclosed is a footbed (200) for an individuals foot having forefoot, rear foot, lateral and medial column, and arch and metatarsal head areas. The footbed has an insole base (201) for underlying the forefoot and rear foot areas and portions of the lateral column area between the forefoot and rear foot areas. The footbed has an arch support insert (220) with a curved flexible upper portion (221) that forms an arch for accommodating the individuals medial arch, and a flat stiff lower portion (222) attached to the ends of the upper portion to stabilize the upper portion. The footbed further has means for attaching the metatarsal pad and arch support inserts to the insole base to provide support for the metatarsal head and arch areas of the foot, respectively.
