PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve reliability of the obtained fluorescent image, in a fluorescent image obtainment apparatus for obtaining an ordinary image and a fluorescent image by illuminating a region to be observed simultaneously with illumination light and excitation light.
SOLUTION: An image processing unit 174 outputs the luminance signals Y of pseudo color ordinary image signals of each pixel to a light amount control unit 186. In the light amount control unit 186, the average luminance value Ya of pixels in a specified area for each frame is calculated and compared with a reference luminance value Yr stored in a memory 190 in advance, and a diaphragm control signal is selected on the basis of the result of comparison and output to the control unit 167 of an illumination light unit 150. Also, at the same time, in an excitation light unit 130, a drive current control signal for controlling the value of a drive current supplied from a drive circuit 132 to a semiconductor laser 131 is obtained, and the drive current control signal is output to the control unit 140 of the excitation light unit 130. The drive current control signal corresponding to the diaphragm control signal is output so that the ratio of the light amount of the illumination light L1 to the light amount of the excitation light L2 becomes a predetermined ratio.
