PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scaffold material acting as a porous body in vivo.

SOLUTION: In the scaffold material for living bodies, biocompatible water-soluble polymer fibers are mixed and dispersed into a water-insoluble biocompatible material. To be more specific, biotolerant polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) as a thermoplastic resin is kneaded with fibers (with diameter of 100-150 &mum) made of carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) as water-soluble polymer for 30 minute at 180°C with a crushing mill at a specified volume ratio and then, the mixture is formed into a plate of 3 mm thick and 5 cm square by a heat compression of 30 MPa at 165°C. The product is cut out in a size of 5×10 mm, the cut pieces are dipped into pure water for 72 hours and dried at 102°C during a full night.
