A stent device delivery system, comprising a stent device pusher (8), aradially expandable stent device (2) and anouter sheath. The stent device comprises a lumen and defines a longitudinalaxis. The stent device is constrained in a radiallycontracted state by the outer sheath. There is a tacky material providing atackiness between the stent device pusher and an innersurface of the stent device. The tacky material is distributed along thelength of the stent device. The tacky material serves to resistaxial movement of the stent device relative to the stent device pusher as theouter sheath slides axially over the stent device, yetallows the stent device to peel from the tacky material and expand to aradially expanded state as the outer sheath slides axially overthe stent device to unconstrain the stent device. The stent device pushercomprises protrusions made of the tacky material that aredistributed axially along the stent device and have a tacky interaction withthe inner surface of the stent device. The tacky materialis compressible and the stent device is embedded in the compressible material.
