The one or more magneticallyactivated self-tapping screws are prepositioned in theimplant body transversally to a longitudinal axis of theimplant body. The prepositioned self-tapping screws areconfigured to rotate under an influence of an externallyapplied magnetic field so as to protrude into the bone andlock the orthopedic implant in place.
