Disclosed is a clamp mechanism for assisting a medical assistant in attaching a finger cuff to a patient's finger. The clamping mechanism may include a mounting structure that includes an upper portion having a gap, opposed lower sides, an outer surface, and a pair of opposed clamping members. A pair of opposed clamping members extend from opposite sides of the outer surface of the mounting structure to form a clamping groove above the gap. The clamping groove can be opened by the paramedic so that the paramedic can pull the first side and the second side of the finger cuff through the gap and the open clamping groove.
