The method also includes withdrawing the outer sheath relative to the self-expanding member to cause the distal end of the self-expanding member to be located distally beyond the distal end of the outer sheath so that the self-expanding member self-expands outwardly into contact with an inner wall of the vein, moving the self-expanding member in a proximal direction relative to the vein while the self-expanding member is in contact with the inner wall of the vein to cause the vein inner diameter to decrease, and applying energy by way of the energy emitting member to the inner wall of the collapsed vein to cause the vein to occlude
