PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an agent for improving the alkali resistance of a plant.SOLUTION: This agent for improving the alkali resistance of a plant (provided that the agent with a strong alkaline property of &ge；pH8.5 is excluded) includes 5-aminolevulinic acid expressed by general formula (1) [wherein Rand Rare each independently H, alkyl, acyl, alkoxycarbonyl, aryl or aralkyl； and Ris hydroxy, alkoxy, acyloxy, alkoxycarbonyloxy, aryloxy, aralkyloxy or amino] or its derivatives, or their salts, an iron compound and an elemental sulfur.【課題】植物の耐アルカリ性を向上させる薬剤や方法の提供。【解決手段】次の一般式（１）：（式中、Ｒ1及びＲ2は各々独立して、水素原子、アルキル基、アシル基、アルコキシカルボニル基、アリール基又はアラルキル基を示し；Ｒ3はヒドロキシ基、アルコキシ基、アシルオキシ基、アルコキシカルボニルオキシ基、アリールオキシ基、アラルキルオキシ基又はアミノ基を示す。）で表される５－アミノレブリン酸もしくはその誘導体又はそれらの塩と、鉄化合物と、単体硫黄とを含有することを特徴とする植物の耐アルカリ性向上剤（但し、アルカリ性がｐＨ８．５以上の強アルカリ性を除く）。【選択図】なし
