PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vertical plane greening structure and a vertical plane greening method which reduce stress caused by wind and solar radiation and inhibit insufficient growth of plants, while improving scenery created by the plants.SOLUTION: A vertical plane greening structure 20 is provided around mechanical equipment installed on a roof floor and performs greening using creepers of a vine 25. The vertical plane greening structure 20 comprises a wire 23, to which creepers of a vine twine around, and which defines an arrangement surface of the vine 25. The vertical plane greening structure 20 comprises a first protecting plate 21 arranged at a mechanical equipment side (inside) of the wire 23 and a second protecting plate 22 arranged at an opposite side (outside) to the mechanical equipment side. Each of the protecting plates (21, 22) for the vertical plane greening structure is a plate member for blocking part of wind and solar radiation to the vine 25, and is arranged alternately so as to be asymmetrical with respect to the vine 25.
