The present disclosure relates to a rice processing apparatus which is compact and portable. The disclosure also discloses a process for processing rice in a rice processing apparatus. The apparatus includes a controller with a grading comparator, a rice paddy introducing unit, a storage unit, a feed sensor(s), a de-husking unit, a monitoring unit, a separating unit, an optic unit, graded containers, a grading/ejection unit and a cooking unit. The storage unit controllably provides rice paddies to the de-husking unit for de-husking. The monitoring unit senses that rice paddies are partially husked then the controller which receives the sensed information directs partially husked rice paddies to de-husking unit for again de-husking else the controller directs rice kernels to the separating unit where rice kernels are separated from husk. Rice kernels are graded collaboratively by the optic unit, the controller and the grading/ejection unit.
