To reduce the radial size of a reel body on a side opposite to a handle, and facilitate installation of a mechanism interlocking with a spool disposed on a side opposite to the handle on the reel body.SOLUTION: A double bearing reel 100 includes a reel body 2, a spool 3, a handle 4 and a spool shaft 10. The reel body 2 includes: a first side plate 11 having a first opening part 11a which opens in the shaft direction of the spool shaft 10 and through which the spool 3 can passed； a second side plate 12 facing the first side plate 11 and a second side cover 8 attached to the second side plate 12. The spool 3 includes a line-winding body part 3a, and a second flange part 3c. The handle 4 is rotatably mounted on the side of the first side plate 11 of the reel body 2.
