The present invention relates to a composition of the aqueous gel comprising 7,5% to 13,5% by dry weight with respect to its total weight of at least a carboxyalkyl in c1 - c4 of cross-linked modified and at least a monoalcohol, c2 - c5. A composition according to the invention is particularly useful as a mask cleaning the skin, and in particular of the face. The present invention also relates to a process for its preparation, a process for the cosmetic treatment of keratinous substances, and a cosmetic process for cleaning a keratinous substance.
