An arterial device, system and method areprovided for use with a patient undergoing a cardiac procedure. Thesystem is configured for enabling one or more arterial devices tobe accommodated in the aorta of the patient in use of the system,and a perfusion lumen arrangement provides therethrough a targetperfusion flow into the aorta having a target perfusion flowrate that is significantly greater than a nominal perfusion flowrate, by an excess perfusion flow rate. A suction lumen arrangementprovides therethrough a suction flow out of the aorta at asuction flow rate. The target perfusion flow rate and the suctionflow rate may be concurrently and selectively controlled to causeembolic debris that may be present in the aorta to be diverted tothe suction inlet, while providing the nominal flow rate to thebody circulation of the patient.
