L'agent actif est constitué d'au moins un composé choisi dans le groupe constitué par le bore, la silice, l'aluminium, le phosphore, l'iode, leurs dérivés, les dérivés aluminosilicates, et leurs mélanges. La matière solide se caractérise par une stabilité améliorée et par un impact environnemental réduit, et permet de préparer des matériaux à base de particules de bois et des bois présentant une résistance particulière face aux agressions environnementales comme l'humidité.
