Apparatus for delivery of moist air to the eye area comprises a reservoir and heater system 40 connected to an enclosure such as goggles 10 which fit around the eye area 12 of a patient, so as to retain the water vapour within the enclosure. The enclosure has a vent 28 to create a through flow of air. Preferably the goggles incorporate a temperature sensor 32 and a humidity sensor 34 which inform electronic control of the reservoir and heater system through feedback. The reservoir may be connected to the goggles by a hose 42 and the vent may be located opposite the hose inlet 33. A viewing window 24 of the goggles may be heated to prevent fogging. The moist air may be maintained at a temperature of 40-45 degrees Celsius for the treatment of meibomian gland dysfunction.
