A lifting apparatus (1200) is provided. The apparatus includes a primary body (1101) that has a support (1112) for supporting a person, and a secondary body (1102). A releasable coupling (1113) provides selective coupling between the primary and secondary bodies (1101, 1102). The lifting apparatus (1102) has (a) a first condition in which the primary body (1101) is coupled to the secondary body (1102), and (b) a second condition in which the primary body (1101) is not coupled to the secondary body (1102), and is configured to be releasably coupled to a vehicle (1300, 1400).
