PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photolabile compound and a method for using the compound.SOLUTION: The photolabile compound has a photoreleasable ligand； and the ligand can be biologically active and is photoreleased from the compound upon exposure to light. In some embodiments, the photolabile compound comprises a light antenna (a labeling molecule, its active derivative, or the like). In one embodiment, the light is visible light, which is not detrimental to the viability of biological samples (cells, tissues, or the like)； a released organic molecule is bioactive and can have a therapeutic effect.
