To solve the problem that an ultrasonic probe having an array oscillator gets the reflection of an ultrasonic wave generated from a difference in acoustic impedance ON the interfacial surface between a groove structural section and a non-groove structural section in the backing layer.
SOLUTION: A backing section 16 is constituted of a first backing layer 18 and a second backing layer 20. The first backing layer 18 is constituted as the groove structure having a cut section 22A and the second backing layer 20 is constituted as the non-groove structure having uniformity. In addition and the density and so forth of each material are selected in such a manner that the actual acoustic impedance in the first backing layer 18 and the actual acoustic impedance in the second backing layer 20 may become substantially the same.
