PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a guide wire which has excellent flexibility at a distal end part, is capable of forming a coating layer with a flat and smooth outer surface, and is excellent in operability and safety.SOLUTION: The guide wire includes a flexible wire body composed by bonding a first wire and a second wire arranged on the proximal end side of the first wire, and a spiral coil 4. The coil 4 has an outer diameter/inner diameter fixed part, a tapered part, and an outer diameter/inner diameter fixed part 41 in the order from the proximal end side to the distal end side. In the outer diameter/inner diameter fixed part 41 of the coil 4, the shape of a part 402 on the outer peripheral side of a wire 40 and the shape of a part 401 on the inner peripheral side are different from each other.
