PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sterilize microbes or the like contained in air and provide clean surrounding environment.SOLUTION: In an externally-mounted sterilizing/deodorizing air cleaner, by coating photocatalyst to a transparent plate whose light source side portion is processed in a round shape and which is attached to a ceiling-mounted straight-tube fluorescent lamp or the like, beam incident to the inside of the transparent plate is diffused, a plurality of transparent plates having a function of activating the photocatalyst are arrayed in an arc state, air is ejected and agitated toward the activated photocatalyst coating surface by using a fan motor attached in the plate fixing box, and microbes in air are sterilized.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
