The present invention includes novel sigma-2 receptor binding substances, hydrates, solvates, pharmaceutically acceptable salts, prodrugs and conjugates thereof. The invention further relates to compositions containing an effective amount of one or more compounds according to the invention and an excipient. A method of treating or preventing a disease involving dysregulation of sigma-2 receptor activity comprises administering to a subject an effective amount of a compound or composition according to the invention.
