An intraluminal occluding catheter and method for preventing the loss of gas insufflation from a physiological lumen during a medical procedure is presented. The intraluminal occluding catheter is generally comprised of a catheter shaft having a flexible balloon affixed on a distal intraluminal end and a plurality of independent channels extending through the catheter shaft from the external proximal end to the distal intraluminal end. Once inserted into a physiological lumen such as the bowel, the intraluminal occluding catheter controls the loss of insufflation proximally thereby improving the safety and efficiency of TAMIS as well as allowing for more controlled gas exchange to clear smoke or vapor.La présente invention concerne un cathéter docclusion intraluminale et un procédé de prévention de la perte de gaz dinsufflation dune lumière physiologique durant une procédure médicale. Le cathéter docclusion intraluminale est généralement composé dune tige de cathéter ayant un ballonnet flexible fixé sur une extrémité intraluminale distale et dune pluralité de canaux indépendants sétendant à travers la tige de cathéter de lextrémité proximale externe à lextrémité intraluminale distale. Après son insertion dans une lumière physiologique telle que lintestin, le cathéter docclusion intraluminale régule la perte dinsufflation proximalement, améliorant ainsi la sécurité et lefficacité des chirurgies transanales mini-invasives (TAMIS) et permettant un échange de gaz plus régulé pour évacuer la fumée ou la vapeur.
