The method for laser screening of cytological smears from the cervix uteri for the presence of human papilloma virus (HPV) provides for the use of polarized laser radiation collimated with the aid of the system of lenses and passed through the polarizing illuminator, the quarter-wave plate, and the polarizer for imaging the smear. The coherent image of the smear is passed through the analyzer and projected through the aperture in the plane of CD camera connected to a personal computer. The normal or pathological condition of the cervix is diagnosed in the aligned polarizer and analyzer. The polarized visualization of the collagen mesh in the cervix allows one to detect the significant differences in the images of coordinate distributions of intensity and orientation patterns in normal and pathological specimens. The native cytological specimens of cervix are irradiated with laser light in a wide spectral range (λ 0.330-0.750 µm). In addition, the linear dichroism and its spectral dependence are analyzed within the specified spectral range. The maximal values are attained in coilocytic reaction characteristic of human papilloma virus (HPV) infection and detected within the range of λ 0.395-0.415 µm.Способ лазерного скрининга цитологических мазков из шейки матки на наличие вируса папилломы (HPV) человека осуществляется путем подачи на препарат шейки матки поляризованного лазерного излучения, коллимируемого с помощью системы объективов и проходящего через поляризационный осветитель, четвертьволновую пластину и поляризатор. После прохождения когерентного изображения препарата через анализатор, объектив проецирует его через диафрагму в плоскость CD-камеры, которая подключена к персональному компьютеру. В соосных поляризаторе и анализаторе диагностируют нормальное или патологическое состояние шейки матки.
