PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a balloon catheter which remarkably reduces the resistance thereof when making a balloon to pass through a blood vessel stenosis region and when taking out the balloon to the outside of the body, and never damages a normal blood vessel when making the balloon to pass through the blood vessel stenosis region while the balloon is expanded or constricted, by stably folding the balloon around a catheter shaft so as to miniaturize it when constricting the balloon.SOLUTION: The distal end of the catheter shaft is connected with the balloon comprising: a straight tube distal-side and proximal-side tapered parts which are adjacent to both ends of the straight tube and which gradually reduce in diameters and distal-side and proximal-side sleeve parts which are adjacent to both ends of the tapered parts.
