Fill-dead cartridges include a carrier, a fluid path connection, a needle insertion instrument, and a drug container. The cartridge allows the drug container to be filled with drug therapeutics using standard filling equipment and processing systems while maintaining sterility and container integrity of the fluid pathway. Fill-dead cartridges of the present invention can be superimposed or detachably housed in a fill-dead tray for batch filling in standard operating processes. As such, the adaptive fill-dead cartridge of the present invention can be flexibly inserted, attached, mounted, or otherwise detachably positioned in the fill-close tray. Thus, these embodiments can provide new and cost-effective assemblies and cartridges that are easily integrated into the drug filling process.
