<;P>;PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for simply and quantitatively evaluating the risk of infection through a medical equipment such as a catheter or a drain at a pre-clinical stage. <;P>;SOLUTION: This method for biologically evaluating the risk of infection through the medical equipment comprises preparing a curved wire and/or a curved tube produced from the same material as that of the medical equipment of evaluation target, puncturing the tube into the body of a non-mammal mammal such that both the ends thereof are exposed to the outside, inoculating the punctured site with a strongly poisonous Salmonella microorganism once or more times, and evaluating the risk of infection through the medical equipment on the basis of the life or death of the non-mammal within five weeks from the first inoculation. <;P>;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
