PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fading inhibitor having an excellent fading prevention effect on the dyed hair, and to provide a fading prevention method for the hair using the same.SOLUTION: A fading inhibitor containing a lactone derivative represented by the following general formula (1) is used. The excellent fading prevention effect on the dyed hair can be exhibited by applying the fading inhibitor to the hair before dyeing, after dyeing, or with a hair dye and subjecting to a heat treatment.
