A medical device having a barrel, a retractable needle, a needle retraction assembly and a plunger, the needle retraction assembly including and being held inside the barrel prior to retraction at least in part by a retainer member contacting the barrel, the plunger comprising a plunger seal with an body having at least a portion that is rearwardly moveable relative to the plunger and an elastomeric web that seals a retraction cavity inside the plunger prior to retraction of the needle, the retainer member and the plunger seal each cooperating with an inside wall of the barrel to provide a sealed liquid containment chamber inside the device.La présente invention concerne un dispositif médical présentant un fût, une aiguille rétractable, un ensemble d'escamotage d'aiguille et un piston, l'ensemble d'escamotage comprenant le fût et étant retenu à l'intérieur de celui-ci avant escamotage au moins en partie par un élément de retenue en contact avec le fût, le piston comprenant un joint de piston ayant un corps dont au moins une partie est mobile vers l'arrière par rapport au piston et un voile élastomère fermant de façon étanche une cavité d'escamotage à l'intérieur du piston avant l'escamotage de l'aiguille, l'élément de retenue et le joint de piston coopérant chacun avec une paroi intérieure du fût pour procurer une chambre de confinement de liquide étanche à l'intérieur du dispositif.
