The present invention relates to a cosmetic composition for skin whitening containing a red rice extract. The red rice extract of the present invention is very excellent in whitening activity as compared to the white rice can be usefully used as a cosmetic composition for skin whitening. The cosmetic composition of the present invention contains red rice extract, which effectively inhibits the enzymatic activity of tyrosinase and blocks melanin production by effectively inhibiting the enzymatic activity of tyrosinase. In comparison, the red rice extract exhibits similar whitening activity, but has very low cytotoxicity and can be easily used as a cosmetic composition more safely than arbutin.본 발명은 적색미 추출물을 함유하는 피부 미백용 화장료 조성물에 관한 것이다. 본 발명의 적색미 추출물은 백미에 비하여 미백 활성이 매우 우수하므로 피부 미백용 화장료 조성물로 유용하게 사용될 수 있다. 본 발명의 화장료 조성물은 적색미 추출물을 함유함으로써, 백미 또는 갈색미에 비하여 보다 효과적으로 티로시나제의 효소활성을 억제하여 멜라닌 생성을 차단하여 미백활성이 매우 우수하며 특히 미백 활성이 있는 것으로 알려진 알부틴(arbutin)과 비교해 보면, 적색미 추출물은 비슷한 미백 활성을 나타내는 반면, 세포 독성이 매우 적어 알부틴에 비하여 보다 안전하게 화장료 조성물로 용이하게 사용될 수 있다.
