PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact and high-accuracy downward irradiation type finger vein authentication device by providing a configuration for stabilizing a finger and preventing adverse effects by right and left fingers.SOLUTION: The finger vein authentication device includes: a central finger placing base 26 for making the finger of an authentication target be placed light sources 3 for irradiating infrared light onto the finger an imaging part 4 for imaging a vein image of the finger by the light from the light sources 3 an opening part 20 for opening in an imaging direction of the imaging part 4 a storage device 14 for storing bioinformation of the finger an authentication processing part 10 for performing characteristic extraction from the image captured by the imaging part 4 and characteristic collation with the bioinformation stored in the storage device 14 and right and left finger placing bases 27, 28 on which the right and left fingers of the finger of the authentication target are placed. The right and left finger placing bases 27, 28 are installed in a little high level to the central finger placing base 26.
