The present invention generally relates to a medium composition and method for culturing mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), in which the medium comprises an epithelial cell adhesion molecule (EpCAM) peptide, particularly a truncated EpCAM polypeptide containing the extracellular domain (EpEX).
