A headwall (12) for a patients room (10) includes a panel (16) having a vertically-extending front surface (22), an opening (36,42) defined in the front surface of the headwall, and a door (44) sized to be received in the opening. The door is vertically movable from a first position where an outer face (52) of the door is flush with the front surface (22) of the panel to a second position where the outer face (52) extends parallel to the front surface (22) and the door (44) is positioned behind the front surface (22).
