The present disclosure provides methods and formulations for the treatment of Alzheimers disease in a subject in need thereof. The methods comprise administering to the subject an ornithine decarboxylase inhibitor such as alpha-difluoromethylornithine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt in an amount effective to treat the disease.
