The invention relates to a column for a plastic crate (100) for containing and transporting market garden produce, allowing the crates to be easily stacked and unstacked, said column (400) being disposed at each corner of the crate (100) and taking the form of a hollow tube. According to the invention, the upper end of the column is provided with an upper expansion (410) and the lower end thereof is provided with a lower projection (420). In addition, the lower projection (420) takes the form of a semi-ellipse that is tapered on the side and front surfaces thereof, the rear surface having a more gentle curve or being straight.
