PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a balloon catheter capable of preventing a blade from damaging the balloon during delivery of the balloon and reliably advancing the blade into a lesioned part avoiding the blade being slipped on a surface of the lesioned part.SOLUTION: Provided is a balloon catheter 1 having a balloon 11 at the distal end of an elongate shaft 10. The balloon 11 has two layers: one is an inner layer 30, along the outer surface of which blades 13 lie； and the other is an outer layer 31 which covers the inner layer 30 from the outer peripheral side, and which is made from a material harder than the inner layer 30.
