Described herein are, inter alia, methods for decreasing the growth of a cancer cell, the method comprising delivering to a target cancer cell a growth-inhibitory amount of an atovaquone-related compound, wherein, prior to the delivery, an increased level of activation of the mTOR pathway in the cancer compared to a control level of activation of the mTOR pathway has been found. Also provided are methods for determining the susceptibility of cancer to treatment with an atovaquone-related compound and for assessing the success of therapy with such a compound.La présente invention concerne entre autres des procédés permettant de diminuer la croissance dune cellule cancéreuse, le procédé consistant à administrer à une cellule cancéreuse cible une quantité inhibant la croissance dun composé apparenté à latovaquone avant ladministration, un niveau accru dactivation de la voie mTOR dans la tumeur par comparaison à un niveau témoin dactivation de la voie mTOR a été découverte. Linvention concerne également des procédés permettant de déterminer la sensibilité dune tumeur au traitement par un composé apparenté à latovaquone et dévaluer le succès dun traitement par ledit composé.
