The articulating rod insert is configured for use to deliver the fixation rod through the cannula or tower to the orthopedic fixation system. The connecting rod insert is releasably connected to the rod, and the long axis of the rod and the rod insert has a substantially linear configuration, so that the long axis of the rod has an angle with respect to the long axis of the rod insert. The rod can be moved to an inclined configuration.
